Classification Specification Online Navigation Webpage

The State of Ohio Classification Plan contains more than 1,800 job classification specifications.  A job classification system creates a distinct hierarchy within an organization based on the assigned value of each position. Ohio’s Classification Plan (or Class Plan) groups jobs within a classification specification based on shared or similar duties, responsibilities and minimum qualifications.

A Class Specification contains detailed information that includes the job title, job code, pay range, collective bargaining unit, essential job functions, illustrative job duties, major worker characteristics, minimum qualifications, training and development required after employment and any unusual working conditions.

Currently, the classification specification information, published on the DAS website, lives in PDF documents.   As a result, end users are unable to easily search for specific information across classifications.

In order to provide some consolidation and ease of navigation, we have created this page to house the State’s Class Plan and associated classification specifications.  Within the online navigation tool, users can search freely in order to maximize efficiency and decrease the amount of time scrolling through the Class Plan looking for specific information. Searches can now be conducted using a “Keyword Search” and an “Advanced Search”.
