The Employee
Records is a Unit within the Human Resources Support Center that is
responsible for maintaining personnel records for employees of state

Changes in the works for Public Records
requests
Recent media attention
has brought about intense scrutiny in regard to requests for
public records. Decision makers are addressing the issue and
changes could be forthcoming in the requirements for such requests.
Currently, subject to certain
statutory exceptions, most documents and records maintained by
the state of Ohio, including but not limited to electronic data,
are public records under Ohio law. ORC
149.43 provides in part,
that a public office should not disclose a peace officer, firefighter
or EMT's residential and familial information. In addition to
residential address a public office should not disclose:
SSN
EAP information
Residential phone number
Emergency phone number
Medical information
Name of any beneficiary for employment
benefits
The identity and amount of any
charitable or employment benefit deduction
