Position Audits

The Office of Classification and Compensation has created this Web page to provide a brief overview of the position audit process, which is only provided to classified exempt employees who are not on probation. When an employee feels that he or she is has been doing work that is more consistent with another classification, normally a higher classification. To begin the audit process, an employee must request a Position Audit Questionnaire (PAQ) from the Office of Classification and Compensation (OCC). The employee will be e-mailed the PAQ and upon receipt will have thirty days to complete the form and return it to the OCC. The employees Supervisor will also receive a PAQ to fill out and return to the employees Agency Human Resources Coordinator to complete and return to the OCC. Once both audits have been received, the audit will be assigned to an analyst to review. Once the analyst has completed the audit the employee and Agency will be notified of the findings.

If you would like more information about classification specifications please visit the Classification and Compensation home page for more information.

Official position descriptions for State of Ohio employees are maintained in the Department of Administrative Services and can be obtained from the Employee Records Center.
