Supplemental
Life Insurance
This information is for exempt employees only. Bargaining unit employees should seek information from the Union Benefits Trust. The State of Ohio offers supplemental life insurance, through the Prudential Insurance Company of America, for exempt state employees to complement the basic (group) life insurance coverage. If your family relies on your income, term life insurance provides the most protection per dollar spent. Term life insurance has no cash value. In deciding how much to purchase, you need to evaluate your familys financial state and estimate how much your family would need after you have died and are no longer producing income. Include ongoing expenses such as daycare and tuition costs as well as immediate expenses at death such as medical bills and burial costs. Full-time permanent employees, part-time permanent employees, judges and other elected officials serving fixed terms of office are eligible for supplemental life insurance benefits. To be eligible, you must be actively at work and performing your normal duties on the effective date of coverage. Supplemental Life Administrator Prudential
