The Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action (AA/EEO) Unit guides, directs, assists and monitors the administration of state of Ohio agency EEO programs by ensuring fair and equal treatment of all individuals in the processes which affect employment. This is accomplished by enforcing EEO related federal/state laws and regulations, Gubernatorial Executive Orders as well as state employment policies and procedures related to civil rights, affirmative action and non-discrimination.

The AA/EEO Unit's specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

    Provides guidance and leadership to state agency EEO administrators in the area of Equal Employment Opportunity;

Develop requirements and criteria for agency affirmative action plans and many other resources to assist state of Ohio EEO administrators;

Provide consultation to state agencies regarding recruitment strategies and procedure;

Liaison to state agencies regarding the collection of accurate statewide EEO workforce data;

Evaluate and investigate discrimination complaints filed by state of Ohio employees and applicants who believe they are experiencing discriminatory harassment or discrimination;

Develop and provide training on anti-discrimination/harassment matters, such as sexual harassment, diversity and other EEO awareness programs;

Counsel and advise applicants, employees, attorneys and state of Ohio EEO administrators in matters involving discrimination and the state of Ohio's processes;

Serve as a resource to facilitate conflict resolution in matters of discrimination and discriminatory harassment;

Make policy recommendations that enhance the state of Ohio's commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action in state government.
