OCB repeats to retain Wellness Spoon

--DAS Office of Employee Services, October 2005

The DAS Office of Collective Bargaining held onto the DAS/OIT Wellness Spoon by capturing the Holiday Food Basket 10K Challenge.

More than $700 was raised for the Holiday Food Basket Campaign thanks to entry fees donated by DAS/OIT employees participating in the third walking competition sponsored by the DAS/OIT wellness team.

Out of the 186 employees participating in the 28-day competition, 58 participants achieved the goal of walking at least 10,000 steps a day, which is approximately five miles. The goal-reachers were honored at an Oct. 24 ceremony.

The OCB team won the competition for collectively achieving the highest percentage of the goal – 93.4 percent, which allowed OCB to retain the DAS/OIT Wellness Spoon it captured by winning the spring walking competition.

Placing second was the team from the DAS Human Resources Division with 87.4 percent. Trailing close behind was the OIT Investment and Governance team at 85.9 percent and the DAS Administrative Support Division team at 85.8 percent.

The overall winner was Tenette Blaising of the General Services Division who achieved 224.9 percent of the goal. She was awarded a new trophy, the Golden Shoes. Also recording steps more than double the goal were runner-up Nnamdi Anene of ASD, 210.7 percent; and Chris Wilkin, OIT IGD, 203.7 percent.
