HRD captures walking competition

More than 20,000 miles
was the distance that DAS employees walked during the recent DAS Inter-Divisional
Walking Competition.
The 198 employees
participating in the four-week fall competition walked a total of 40,841,598
steps, which was the equivalent of walking about 20,420 miles.
The goal of each participant
was to walk 280,000 steps, the approximate distance from Columbus to Mount
Healthy, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati.
The Human Resources
Division won the competition for achieving the highest percentage of the
goal 90.76 percent.
Placing second was
the team from the Office of Information Technology's Investment and Governance
Division. Third place went to OIT's Service Delivery Division.
The top individuals
received prizes of cash generated from entry fees. The top overall individual
winners and the percentage of the goal that they stepped were as follows:
Joe Hietter of HRD, 232.46 percent; Connie Chan of HRD, 208.89; Vicki
Curren of SDD, 208.79; Kevin Fowler of the General Services Division,
187.21; Mike Duco of the Office of Collective Bargaining, 159.14.

each division, excluding the overall winners, were as follows: Administrative
Support Division -- Robin Lynch, John Yoho and Rick Frank; Equal Opportunity
Division -- Sylvia Singer, Pam Osborne and James Austin; GSD -- Amy Stanisovska,
Mary Sen and Molly Staley; HRD -- Susan Myers, Jackie Masters and Brenda
Oyer; IGD -- Roni Rowe, Jan Saik and Carolyn Chavanne; OCB -- John Kinkela,
Barb Mattei-Smith and Amy Parmi; SDD -- Joe Kruithoff, Rod Owens and Ron
Johnson.

Clare Long, Charlotta Ross, Shelly Richardson, Janine Ashanin and Emily
Oquendo; IGD -- Rowe, Saik, Chavanne, Jean Carter, Curtis Brooks, Martha
Vohlers, Nadine Williams, Gus Maragos and Jencie McCloud; OCB -- Duco,
Kinkela and Mattei-Smith; and SDD -- Curren, Kruithoff, Owens and Johnson.
The competition was
sponsored by the DAS wellness team, which is a result of Governor Bob
Taft's Healthy Ohioans initiative. The members of the team are Gary Allbright,
ASD; James Austin, EOD; Nancy Brogle, OCB; Joseph Holliman, HRD; Jencie
McCloud, IGD; Kathy Teeters and Angie Weis, both of SDD; and Dawn Wyne
of GSD.
