An awards presentation, public records discussion and updates
on society progress will be highlighted at this year’s Professional Development Conference – “Essentials of Leadership” – sponsored by the Ohio CPM Society in partnership with the Ohio
Certified Public Manager program (OCPM).
The conference will be held Nov. 16 at the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources Assembly Center in Building E at 2045 Morse Road from 9 a.m.
to 4:15 p.m. Registrations will be accepted until the day of the conference.
The conference fee is $60 for Ohio CPM Society members and $75 for nonmembers.
Eligible state employees may use the Exempt Professional Development Fund to cover the costs.
Two information sessions are on the agenda. Jeffery Clark, principal assistant
attorney general, will discuss House Bill 9, which concerns amendments to recently
adopted public records legislation. The Sterling Institute’s “Essentials of
Leadership” will be presented by a representative from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.
“The Essentials of Leadership” will focus on how to aid managers and those in leadership positions
acquire a broader range of knowledge and skills to provide more effective management in
an ever-changing professional environment.
This year’s keynote speaker is change management expert Carol Ritz, who also will host a training workshop.
OCPM program participants may elect to use their attendance at the conference to receive up to six credit hours
of OCPM substitution credit. Communication skills, personal productivity and public-sector leadership are a few
of the 15 courses that will be available for substitution credit for OCPM participants.
