Division of Columbus State.
The State Architect’s Office,
which is part of the DAS General Services
Division, received praise at the dedication ceremony
held recently for the Center for
Workforce Development at Columbus State Community College.
Columbus State President Valeriana Moeller began
her commentary by saying, “When touring
this wonderful new facility, I want you to remember
just five words: ‘On time and under budget.’"
Later in her speech, Moeller acknowledged
the fine support the project received from
the State Architect’s Office and specifically
named Kathy Stewart, project coordinator;
Ned Thiell, project manager; and Keith Wagenknecht,
deputy state architect. Later in the ceremony Governor
Bob Taft acknowledged State Architect Roger Booker
and the excellent work of the office.
The State Architect’s Office was the manager
of the $27 million project to build the 141,000-square-foot
Center for Workforce Development, the largest academic
center at Columbus State. The facility, located at 315 Cleveland Ave.,
includes classrooms, laboratories, workshops and offices for the
college’s Community Education and Workforce Development Division,
which serves more than 20,000 students. It also houses a conference
center and a child development center.
