SAO College at industry expo again

Design and construction industry
professionals attending the Ohio Design and Construction Expo will have an opportunity
to learn more about doing business with the State Architect's Office (SAO).
The SAO College Spring Semester 2006 will be part of the series
of seminars and programs held in conjunction with the expo, which
will be held Feb. 1 and 2 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The expo, which is sponsored by the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio,
is the largest trade show in Ohio.
Topics for the 2006 semester include:
- Working With the EDGE Program
(Encouraging, Diversity, Growth and Equity)
- MasterFormat 2004 Specifications for State
Projects (and Others, Too!)
- State Code Review and Plan Approval
- Resolutions to Construction Problems
- Closing Out a State Project
- SAO Payment Requests and Other Forms
- Changes to the State’s “Front End” Documents
- Prevailing Wages and Filing Liens
- Information on the LEED Program (Leadership in
Energy Environmental Design)
The topics will be presented by an SAO staff expert
in conjunction with a specialist from the architectural,
construction or legal community, or from a state agency
or state institution of higher education.
The registration fee is $35 per course. The daily sessions
will be held between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Eligible seminar graduates may be awarded up to 9.0
learning units from the American Institute of Architects or the Ohio Construction Industry Examination Board.
Eligible state employees attending the seminar may use
funding from the Workforce Development program or the
Exempt Professional Development Program.
