DAS/OIT help feed the hungry

-DAS Office of Employee Services, December 2005

DAS and OIT employees once again showed their generosity during this year’s Holiday Food Basket Campaign.

The 2005 campaign, which ended Nov. 30, was a huge success with DAS/OIT employees donating $5,184.75 and 4,310.5 pounds of food to the Mid-Ohio FoodBank, exceeding last year’s contributions by $1,085.90 and 1,705.50 pounds of food.

Monetary donations to the campaign are used to purchase poultry and other perishable items. The Mid-Ohio FoodBank provides food to more than 500 food pantries, shelters, senior dining sites, soup kitchens and after-school programs in central and eastern Ohio.

DAS Director Carol Nolan Drake and OIT Director Mary Carroll wish to extend their most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all employees who participated in the campaign and gave so generously to make this holiday season an enjoyable one for those less fortunate.

Special thanks is extended to the Holiday Food Basket Committee, which was chaired by Rhonda Cunningham and comprised of Lisa Barbee, Bobbi Bell, Sara Craven, Jeff Frink, Brenda Hodge, Jane Kuzma, Patty Magazine, Rosanna Muse, Dan Myers, Mary Owens, Tiffiny Plasencio, Tina Smith, Rose Steward, Jan Tornes, Victoria Yarborough and Joe Zapotosky. Thanks also to Rhonda Cunningham, Bobbi Bell, Sara Craven, Jeff Frink, Jane Kuzma and Tina Smith for using their creativity to build a snowman with a hollowed out stomach serving as a food basket for the Holiday Food Basket Celebration at the Statehouse, which concluded the campaign, and to Harry Ivory for his assistance with food collection and storage.
