DAS honors 18 employees
for outstanding contributions

Congratulations goes to 18 employees who were honored at the DAS and OIT Superior Accomplishment and Quality Service awards ceremony held May 18 in the Rhodes Tower Lobby Hearing Room.

The following awardees were recognized during the ceremony by DAS Director Carol Nolan:

January Quality Service Award individual recipient:

  • Jennifer Sorvillo, network administrator, Administrative
       Support Division
  • Sorvillo, who works for Information Technology Services, was recognized for providing quality technical support and service to the Governor’s office for more than eight years.

    February Quality Service and Superior Accomplishment Award work group recipients:

  • Bobbi Bell, executive secretary, Equal Opportunity Division
  • Molly O’Reilly, management analyst supervisor, ASD
  • Erin Shmidt, public information officer, ASD
  • This work group was nominated for its outstanding work in coordinating the 2005 Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration and its related publications.

    February Quality Service Award individual recipient:

  • Alicyn Carrel, administrative staff member, Office of
       Collective Bargaining
  • Carrel was nominated for her instrumental work in identifying and implementing changes in the coordination of dispute resolution hearings.

    March Quality Service and Superior Accomplishment Award work group from EOD:

  • Cassandra Gore, EEO contract officer
  • Lynda Knight, executive secretary
  • This work group was nominated for coordinating the Black History Month program in the Rhodes Tower. In addition, the following employees were awarded special recognition for their contribution to this program.

    March Special Mention recipients:

  • Marvin Brunson, Rhodes Tower B-1 Cafeteria
  • Stacy Cornett, EEO contract officer, EOD
  • Kendall Fells, Ohio Department of Mental Health

  • March Quality Service and Superior Accomplishment Awards work group recipients from the General Services Division were:
  • Vijay Bhalla, architect administrator
  • Angie Carder, electronic design specialist
  • Nick Cassidy, architect
  • Bruce Ratekin, architect
  • Kevin Russell, architect
  • Robert Simkins, architect
  • Ned Thiell, architect
  • March Special Mention recipients:

  • Roger Griebling, former architect administrator, GSD
  • This work group from the State Architect’s Office was chosen for its exceptional collaboration and perseverance in revising the construction contractor performance evaluation form and the associate performance evaluation form.

    The Superior Accomplishment Award and Quality Service Award make up the agency's employee recognition program. After being nominated by co-workers, managers, employees or customers, awardees are chosen by a committee based on specific criteria. The Quality Service Award honors individuals or work groups for providing quality service when conducting their day-to-day duties. Awardees who go beyond their daily duties to perform outstanding work and quality service also receive the Superior Accomplishment Award.
