Employees take day off to work

Fifteen DAS and OIT employees took Sept. 20 off work to stroke paintbrushes, push wheelbarrows, load dollies, stuff envelopes and more.

They were among more than 4,700 volunteers from 75 employers who participated in Community Care Day, the largest single volunteering effort in central Ohio. Volunteers tackled more than 130 projects at United Way agencies, providing the equivalent of more than $400,000 in work.

Volunteering at the Central Ohio Diabetes Association were Charlotte Long, DAS Administrative Support Division; Tim Collins, DAS Equal Opportunity Division; Joni Johnson and Jeff Westhoven, both of the DAS General Services Division; Karen Benson, Latasha Phillips and Gerri Stewart, all of the DAS Human Resources Division; and Ed Razler, OIT Investment and Governance Division.

Volunteering at Ecole Kenwood, a French immersion school which is part of Columbus Public Schools, were Bill Hawkins, Administrative Support Division; Bobbi Bell, Brenda Hodge and Nychola Richardson, all of the Equal Opportunity Division; and Gretchen Adkins, Kimberly Logan and Tammy Marcum, all of the General Services Division.
