WHAT WE DO

The Office of Classification and Compensation is comprised of four divisional units:

Classification & Compensation Unit

This unit creates and revises all classification specifications, conducts position audits, point factor evaluations, union mandated reviews, approves PSMQs, and assigns pay ranges to classifications.

County Services Unit

The County Services Unit creates and revises all classification specifications for county agencies, conducts position audits, verifies retention points for layoffs, performs compliance reviews and provides training and consultative services to county human resources officers.

Labor Market & Recruitment Unit

This unit participates in recruitment activities, salary surveys & collects information on employment trends, wages, and recruitment/retention problems and maintains the OLEAP database.

Performance & Assessment Unit

This unit conducts job analysis, assess which classes are most appropriate for civil service exams, writes test and/or proficiency exams, researches competencies and statewide performance appraisal/management systems.
