Course Details:
Building on the knowledge and skills gained from Project Management Level 1, this program focuses on the final four PMI-PMBOK knowledge areas: Cost Procurement, Quality and Risk Management. The course end quizzes are designed to test participant knowledge in the final four areas and help prepare each particpant for the PMP certification. Additionally, a "live" project implementation will be comducted using a project from an agency.
- You must be a graduate of Project Management Level I
- This program runs for 10 weeks, 15 course dates
- All courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- The “Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge” (PMBOK) will be used extensively within this program.
- Course-end quizzes will be given and graded to check participant learning gains.
- Three additional skill assessements are conducted to provide further professional development information on writing, time management and team practices.
- Projects will be completed and will be assigned by DAS Sponsors.
- Participants should have proficiency in MS Project and be able to show work based examples to include:
- Documented planning of “Resources”
- Calendaring
- Multiple uses of the “Views
- All courses are held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- No ‘make-up” sessions available- participants must attend all posted dates.
Project Management II Description:
Combining the state of Ohio project processes with the four remaining PMBOK knowledge areas, participants continue to master the basic concepts of project management.
- Three additional skills assessments are conducted to provide further professional development information on writing, time management and team practices.
- A smaller project assignment will be completed following the PMBOK methodology
- Program delivery includes classroom, lecture and special activities designed to complete the participant’s project management competency levels.
- The curriculum includes instruction and practice in the areas of Quality Management, Cost Management, Procurement Management and Risk Management in addition to Technical Writing and the Politics of Project Management
- A small group project will be required for program completion. However, the focus is on learning the final components of PMBOK.
- Projects will be assigned by DAS sponsor(s).
- Program will run for ten-weeks over a two month period.
- Three skills assessments will be administered prior to the program as a part of an overall professional development plan within the context of the program.
- This program is designed to be much more than classroom training. It will combine lectures, hands-on activities and special assignments.
- Some work/research will be needed to be completed by participants outside assigned classroom dates.

Week 1

Orientation & Quality Management:
This course will cover the program and project parameters, and cover the basic requirements of the 10-weeks. Additionally, we will begin with discussion on how to systemically improve projects by utilizing a variety of quality assurance methods.

Week 2

Team Day and Sponsor Meeting:
All project team days will focus on managing and completing a project from both an individual and team perspective. Team days are designed to insure that every participant master the skills taught in the program through hands-on assignments. |
Week 3

Cost and Procurement Management and Team Day:
Combining the PMBOK methodology with the State of Ohio's fiscal managment pieces, this course will help complete the overview of what a project manager should expect when it comes to funding, budget and other fiscal components. This course is partnered with an additional project day. |

Technical Writing:
Every project manager needs writing skills that surpass just general report writing. This course will cover the details necessary to complete detailed techincal reports that can be provided to the highest level of any organization.

Risk Management:
PMBOK outlines a wide variety of methods, tools and concepts which should be implemented as a part of every project. This course provides insight and activities to help understand the concept of risk management and move a project forward in an ever-changing world.
