Project Profiles

Ohio Department of Mental Health
Summit Behavioral Healthcare
Cincinnati, Ohio

Project Scope:
Renovate and expand existing facility for a 314,000-square-foot patient recovery facility. The state-of-the-art facility includes patient units, gymnasium, cafeteria and clinical care areas. The project team designed the facility using a “recovery mall” model to provide ample space for services that enhance recovery as well as patient living areas that afford dignity, privacy and safety.

This concept enables greater mobility for patients and allows easy access to treatment, activities and peer support. The design also incorporates effective use of daylighting.

Summit Behavioral Healthcare is the largest free-standing psychiatric facility in Ohio.
