The Office of Minority Affairs serves as a liaison through the Governor's Office of Minority Affairs to the minority communities of Ohio, state officials and other state agencies, in the coordination of all minority assistance programs offered by the State of Ohio.

The Office of Minority Affairs not only serves as a resource center for minority constituent concerns and issues but also houses the Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission. This Commission is a statewide advocate of Dr. King's principles of nonviolence and annually honors Ohio's citizens who work to promote diversity and eliminate discrimination through nonviolent methods.
