The Equal Opportunity Divison (EOD) is providing innovative solutions to broaden its scope of services offered to Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Encouraging Diversity, Growth & Equity (EDGE) certified businesses and state agencies.
The purpose is to facilitate the certification process for the above business enterprises and to enhance the procurement opportunities pursuant to Executive Orders, Ohio Revised and Administrative Codes.
In an effort to better serve our customers, state agencies and business enterprises alike, EOD has made recent additions to our website. Now businesses can find out where the procurement opportunities exist and agencies can identify what MBE/EDGEs have to offer to meet their procurement needs. EOD has also made it possible for contractors to apply for and receive Certificates of Compliance via web. This makes it possible for the contractor to enter into contract for construction work on state or state assisted construction projects. Additionally, these contractors are now able to report via the web the utilization of minorities and female trade persons on these projects as required by law, by submitting I-29 (utilization) reports.
EOD will provide state agencies data reflecting the utilization or the employment of minorities and females in state jobs compared to other non-minority and male employees. EOD will provide access to employment assistance agencies that serve the employment needs of qualified minorities and females seeking employment. All of this will be available in the near future via EOD's website.
The State EEO Coordinator's duty includes aiding in achieving compliance with statute, Ohio Administrative Code and Executive Orders in respect to MBE/ EDGE certification, procurement, employment and discrimination complaints. At EOD we are seeking to ensure that Equality, Fairness and Diversity are the hallmarks of all our efforts. EOD believes that the Worldwide Web will allow us to provide essential information and services quickly, broadly and in a manner that will be convenient to all. This all helps to broaden the impacts of our efforts.
