Ohio
Business Gateway collects
nearly $168 million

-- ITSD Enterprise Shared Services, July 2003

Businesses electronically paid nearly $168 million in taxes and workers' compensation premiums through the Ohio Business Gateway during its first year and a half of operation.

This multi-agency program, accessible through a link on the state Web portal, provides a single location for businesses to report and pay sales, withholding and unemployment compensation taxes as well as workers' compensation premiums. Filing also is faster because the duplication common in standard paper reporting is eliminated. Names, tax rates and other information are retained from one report to the next in the online version.

A total of 71,799 reports were filed through the Ohio Business Gateway between its unveiling in January 2002 and the close of the 2003 fiscal year on June 30, 2003. Those businesses reported nearly $274.5 million and electronically filed more than $167.8 million in taxes and premiums.

The Ohio Business Gateway allows businesses to file eight tax forms and reports with the Ohio Department of Taxation, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Ohio Department of Commerce and Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation all from a single Web-based application.
