PASS named program of the year
-- HRD Office of Training and Development Services, October 2003

The Professional Administrative Support Services (PASS) training program has been named 2003-2004 Program of the Year by the National Association for Government Training and Development. The award recognizes programs that produce positive measurable results and that are easily adapted on the state and local level.

Operated by DAS Office of Training and Development Services, PASS is a 12- week program that helps public employees enhance math, communications, computer, problem-solving and organization skills. It is open to state employees and a limited number of county and local government employees as well. The 93 employees who have completed PASS to date have shown an average improvement of nearly 50 per cent in at least one skill area.

PASS courses are presently offered at Columbus State Community College and Wright State University. The program is scheduled to expand in the spring to Cleveland State University and Owens Technical College.

PASS tuition is $595. Reimbursement for state employees is available to eligible members of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association under the Workforce Development Program and to eligible exempt state employees through the Exempt Professional Development Program.
