OCPM manager named officer of
national consortium
- HRD Office of Training and Development, May 2003

Victoria Gatien, program manager of the Ohio Certified Public Manager (OCPM) program, recently was elected secretary of the National Certified Public Manager Consortium Executive Board.

"I'm honored and excited to serve the national consortium as an officer because it's clearly a leadership role for Ohio," Gatien said.

Gatien, who currently serves as an at-large member, was elected at the consortium's annual meeting held in April in Charleston, S.C. Her one-year term begins July 1.
Traditionally the secretary has been nominated to the vice chair position, which leads to the chair and past-chair posts.

Her accomplishments include leading the effort that led to the selection of Ohio to host the American Academy of Certified Public Managers annual conference in 2008.

Ohio is one of 26 states and three other government entities that offer CPM programs, which are two-year programs that enhance the managerial skills of government employees. The program's 15th class - or cohort - recently began in the Dayton area. Students are being recruited for the next cohort, which will be located in central Ohio and begin this fall.

The HRD Office of Training and Development leads the Ohio program in collaboration with 12 state universities throughout the state.
