Energy Services creates
new electricity contract
--GSD Office of Energy Services, July 2003
The Office
of Energy Services began monitoring the state's electricity
market for lower rates since Ohio's electricity market was opened
to competition in January 2001.
Although very few competitors have come to Ohio, Energy Services
was able to create an electricity contract for state facilities
in the FirstEnergy territory, which includes Cleveland and Toledo.
A total of 184 accounts in 7 state agencies have joined the program
since it began in July 2002, with an annual savings estimated at
$200,000.
