MLK celebration set for Jan. 16

"Keeping the Dream Alive" is the theme for the 18th annual Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration, which will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 16 at Trinity Episcopal Church, located at the southeast corner of Third and Broad streets, Columbus.

Governor Bob Taft, Lt. Governor Jennette Bradley and members of the Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission will speak as well as students who won the 2002 Statewide MLK Oratorical Contest. In addition, Taft, Bradley and the commission will present awards to several Ohioans for keeping Dr. King's dream alive by working for peace and nonviolent social change.

The event is sponsored by the commission and conducted with assistance from the DAS Equal Opportunity Division as well as the DAS offices of Communications, Legislative Affairs and State Printing.
