Holliman recognized for healthy lifestyle
-- DAS Office of Employee Services, May 2003

Joseph Holliman, an employee in the Human Resources Division's Office of Payroll Administration, was recognized by Governor Bob Taft for being a "Healthy Ohioan."

Holliman was among four state employees praised by Governor Bob Taft during Employee Health and Fitness Day ceremonies for making significant lifestyle changes to improve their health. Holliman began a diet and exercise regimen more than four years ago, losing 90 pounds over a year and a half.

He has maintained the weight loss by eating less and performing cardio and weight-lifting exercises three to five days a week.

A member of the DAS Health and Wellness Team, Holliman advises others trying to lose weight," If I can do it, anyone can do it."

His nominator wrote, "Joseph is an excellent example of how we can positively make lasting health improvements. Joseph is a constant encouragement to his co-workers who are challenged with the need to lose weight. … He never misses an opportunity to pass on positive reinforcement to anyone talking of or working on losing weight."
