The State Architect’s Office has developed a protocol for the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques and systems on capital improvement projects.
According to the National Institute of Building Sciences, BIM is defined as a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. A BIM is a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle; defined as existing from earliest conception to demolition
The State of Ohio BIM Protocol is designed to serve as a guide for consistent model development and management across state agencies and institutions of higher education, facilitating owners that may or may not have their own BIM standards in place and wish to have projects completed through BIM implementation
The State of Ohio BIM Protocol is a living document and will continually be reviewed for applicability with current methods and technology.
